THE Stories, no one tells you about
CHINNAMASTIKA TEMPLE, HAZARIBAGH, JHARKHAND
The scared Temple of Chhinnamasta is located at Rajrappa, Hazaribagh District, on huge rock formation, at the confluence of the Damodar and Bhera (Bhairavi) rivers creating the Rajrappa falls. It is 54 km from Hazaribagh. The temple is one of the 10 Mahavidhyas.
The Ruling Diety in Rajrappa Temple is Chinnamasta (the beheaded Goddess Kali) shown as a self-decapitated nude goddess standing on Kamdeo. The vintage of the scared Temple of Chhinnamasta is unknown but decisively very old as Rajrappa finds mention in the Vedas, Puranas and Hindu scriptures as a “Shakti Peeth”. The temple’s tantric architecture resembles the architecture of Tantric temples like Kamakhya Temple, in Guahati, Assam.
Animal sacrifice is still practiced in the temple on Tuesdays, Saturdays and during Kali puja.
