Jyeshtha Purnima 2021– Rituals, significance & Puja Vidhi
The full moon in the month of June which is known as Jyeshtha Purnima is great importance in Hindu Religion. As per religious perspective, the day is ideal for Holy bath and charity. It is believed that taking up a dip in River Ganga fulfills all the wishes of devotees. The day is also celebrated as Vat Purnima and Vat Savitri fast is also observed. Women specially in Gujrat, Maharashtra and South India states, follows this fast.
Rituals to be followed:
The day should be spent in meditation and charity. Married ladies observe this fast for the well-being for their husband. They go to the temple and listen to the legend. During the puja, two bamboo baskets are taken. In one of the baskets, the statue of Goddess Savitri is kept along with kumkum, lamp, holy thread and flowers. The Puja is performed by taking a circle around the tree. A Prasad of gram and jaggery is distributed among the devotees. One can also give a donation to poor people.
Significance of Jyeshtha Purnima
As per traditional Indian Mythology, it is widely believed that keeping a fast on Jyestha Purnima blesses the married women with a long life of their husbands and a blissful married life. Another significance of this festival is that the married women, who take a dip in the holy Ganges, get all the blessings and all their desires (Professional & Personal) are fulfilled.
