Foundation in Maths & Science
As a child growing up in New Delhi, math and science were highly respected in her home. As she got older, she developed a deep acuity for the subject. She ranked as a Gold Medalist and top of her class at Lady Shri Ram College (the #1 college for humanities in India) in Statistics. She later completed a Masters in Operational Research and graduated in the top 1% of her class with an MBA in Finance from Imperial College, London.
Saumya’s 13 years of career experience started in London, including 8+ years as a Management Consultant at well-known firms leading complex technical projects, including Saas and agile development for several Fortune 500 companies. Later in her work, Saumyaa managed mergers and acquisitions, due diligence, operations valuation, and performance transformation advice for multi-billion $ portfolios.
After contributing to companies like Rolls Royce, Ernst and Young, and KPMG over the years, Saumyaa developed a global perspective and mindset, which she uses in all of her client interactions.
Re-discovering Indian Spirituality
Along with her father Harsh Vardhan, she co-founded Shubhpuja.com. She pioneered, launched, and managed full-phase startup operations, including defining the technology platform, building a team including 500+ service professionals, and creating global partnerships to reach 15 countries in only 3 years.
In 2011, Harsh Vardhan and his daughter Saumya Vardhan co-founded Shubhpuja. They believe that Vedic sciences can be highly relevant and useful to people today, if they are brought back with integrity to original science, and then adapted to the issues of the modern age. In the spirituality industry, it’s not easy to find practitioners who can balance ancient wisdom with modern insight. They continue conducting research and developing new models for understanding what our great sages and ancient practitioners knew and practiced long ago.

Speaking to her previous 12+ years in tech consulting, she says: “Just like how I would work on the financial models and balance sheets for a company, I work on astrological models and people’s stars and numbers for an individual – that’s like the “balance sheet” for our lives, since that’s the data available about us.”
Subsequently, Vardhan became the youngest CEO of any public sector company in India (which is a record till date from 1983,) at Vayudoot, a regional airliner, where he pioneered the concept of packaged tourism and night airmail in India. During his tenure, he made it one of the fastest growing airlines in the world, reaching 95 cities.
Vardan is now the chairman of his own airline consultancy, Starair, through which he continues to offer his leadership to the aviation industry at large.

Harsh Vardhan is a senior executive from India’s aviation industry and one of the top experts in aviation globally, having been consulted for and featured in an incredible number of media outlets across every major country in the world. Vardhan was an influential figure at Air India in the 1980s, where he played an important role in the company’s turn-around. During that time, he was co-organized the Asian Games – the largest global sporting event after the Olympics, as well as the Conference of Head of States and Non-aligned Summit, a historic world event for which Vardhan received more than 200 heads of state to the nation’s capital. These were some of the first prominent international events to take place at that time, catapulting India onto the global stage.
